"Evaluation of Barbican Box Performance"

Evaluation of Barbican Box Performance

On 21st May at 5:30pm there was a mock rehearsal of Barbican Box performance, the real performance will take place on 10th July 2015. During the time of the rehearsals everyone tried to complete their tasks assigned to them for the performance and tried to combine each part together as a group. Everyone tried to be on time and do their best during the time of the rehearsals. Although, we didn’t have much preparation time for the mock performance, we have still managed to create a good piece of work. My group and I did some good piece of work and only few days before the mock we have managed to develop the dance section. As a group we have worked well together and shared any ideas and thoughts during the rehearsals. From my individual perspective I think that I have always attended all the rehearsals on time and showed dedication and focus in remembering the order in acts.

During the performance, we didn’t have enough time to carry out the ‘man says’ section. The video should have been recorded slower which would have gave us more time to act out what the ‘man says’. During this game we should have been more childish and energetic. For the upcoming performance everyone has to learn their text with the dates and information about what has happened during that time period, which is what the play is representing (timeline). This is because during the mock not everyone knew their lines off by heart, which cannot happen during the real performance on the 10th July. Also the video which we have included in the beginning of the performance should be shorter and the added song which will strengthen our performance. This is because, the length of the video is too long which may make the audience lose their focus; instead the shorter version will make the message powerful and interesting. Furthermore, the song will add some atmosphere to the play, an atmosphere which will make the audience empathise with the actors.

My next advice would be so that some of the acts should be showed slower so that the audience will understand the message (historical freeze frames). I really like the beginning which we have added after the mock- Michael Jackson dance, which will make the performance more interesting and powerful (protest dance). Also, I think discrimination at work looks well as long as we are carrying out the same movements at the same time, coordination. My advice is that we should practise our timing to make the whole performance tight.

Also, I believe that the change we added improved the play as a whole and will make it an excellent piece when all the extra bits will be improved and perfected. For example; props and freezes (seasons) and also tweet which is when we create a semi-circle and push out the person who is pointed at. If we want this performance to be very good we have put all our energy into it and become the characters we are acting out. For the next performance, our section will be more developed and improved because this was the best part of the performance as the audience said. We will add a finale to our dance performance, so that the audience will understand the story of what the play is about (domestic abuse). Up to the performance we have to work harder in the rehearsals and make sure all the changes work together.

"Barbican Performance continue"

Last weak in 28th of May my class first time performed "Barbican Performance" in our college to check what we have and also to get opinion from the audience; what we have to do better ,change and what we have to develop more for the proper performance which will be in 10th of July. From whole this weeks we have done really a lot of ,good work . We added more choreographies to our section with chairs and also we added beginning of our performance. We will dance to the song Michael's Jackson -"They don't care about us" what make performance more energetic and powerful than before. Each time, each lesson our performance getting better and more tight.

*Here you have the opening song which added in last lesson in this Tuesday:

Now we have to still work really hard to make this last performance really good and convey it with clear message for the audience. I think that it will be a great performance ,especially because it will be performed first time in real theatre what make me feel really exited.

"New Musical 2015"

In 14th of May my class made the last musical in this year. The musical took place in school theatre in our college at 5.30 pm. In this musical you could find scenes from "Chicago Musical","Fame Musical","Bugsy Malone","Wicked Musical","Grease Musical","Sister Act"and other. This time teachers wanted us to prepared this musical(individual work) and most of scenes were solo songs than whole class.
Here you have songs where were all class performing:

1)"All that Jazz"-Chicago Musical

2)"Cell block "-Chicago

3)"Raise your voice"-Sister act

4)"So you wanna be a boxer"-Bugsy Malone

5)"Dancing through life"-Wicked

6)"Bring on tomorrow"-Fame

*And here is my solo song which I sang :
"Out here on my own"-Irene Cara
I really like this song and while performance I could really connect with this song and lyric.

1)The strengths of our musicals are:
*Everyone prepared own solo song.
*At rehearsals everyone tried to be focus and work really hard.
2)The weakness of our musical are:
*Not everyone sang clearly,on video you can hear falsehood.
*Some of the people didn't come at rehearsals on time what caused the delay in trial and de-concentration of other students.
3)Reflection:
*Be on time at rehearsals.
*Be prepared with the rest songs ,not just with your own song.
*Put more energy at rehearsals.

Differences between Jazz dance and Ballet dance

Jazz is a dance, which despite its modernity, handfuls draws from classical dance, and above all from the classical ballet. Freedom of movement of dancers who chose jazz, is ransomed many hours of exercises and workouts, as comprehensive and engaging the like classical ballet. To be a dancer, regardless of whether contemporary dance fascinates us, or classic, you need to obstinacy and willingness to make sacrifices. Dance training, however, a great way to lose weight, stay fit and healthy.

1) Classical Ballet

Ballet is a classical dance form of the show, which is derived from the Italian masquerades, operas, ballet and drama ballet. Initially, the entertainment was a mythological subject and the scene could see both the dancing, singing and pantomime. Only in the second half of the eighteenth century, the party deprived sung ballet.
Classical ballet is made up of specific body movements of dancers, additionally difficult by the fact that dance should be on your toes (used for that special shoes for dancing - pointy). Dance can be performed solo, in groups or pairs. Codified dance movements include:
specific items of the hands and the head (eg. arabesque)
specific items of legs (eg. devant)
jumps and pirouettes (eg. cabriole, tours),
squats (eg. plie)
ballet steps (eg. entrechat).
In classical ballet costumes for performances in force is called. Classic package, also called classical tutu. Tutu is a kind of dress - in the case of classical ballet is rigid and it reveals the whole legs of a dancer. The most famous example is the classical ballet "Swan Lake".

2)Jazz dance

Jazz dance grew out of the ballet as a dance technique, but his "base" is music. Jazz is a music improvisation, carrying a big load behind emotions. His freedom is also evident in the dance. Jazz is also syncopated, even rhythm that makes jazz dance is a dance difficult, with the characteristic of emphasis on movement.
Contemporary dance movements require precision and accuracy on the part of the dancer.
Jazz dance combines elements:
ballet,
modern dance,
contemporary dance.
Jazz dance characteristics are:
insulation - independent movements of the various parts of the body,
contractions - body movements from hip-hop.
 the ability to improvise,expressiveness,
 freedom of movement;
standing position, knees, lying down or squatting.
Even at a time when jazz became popular dance, began to appear in his characteristic variations such as lirycal jazz, latin jazz and modern jazz. Among these fragments are now also a variety of jazz style trends.
 Summation:
Main differences between Jazz Dance and Ballet Dance are:
Ballet:
* Turn out quality
*Strong technique/exercise
* Story telling
Jazz:
*Parallel
*Dynamic-more sharper/attack
*Less rigid
*More free expresion/improvisation
